Craig Barnett, Sales Account Manager at A1 Trade Print Services has been playing semi professional football for 9 years turning out for Halesowen Town, Solihull Borough and Dudley Town amongst others. Craig currently plays centre midfield for Blackheath in Division 1 of the Sports Italia West Midlands Regional League, but he has decided to try out his coaching skills on Sundays, and has taken on the challenge of the Player Manager role at Dog and Pheasant La Coruna in the Bromsgrove League.
Dog and Pheasant La Coruna was only formed three years ago, when a group of school friends who wanted to play football together, started out in Division 3. They have since achieved consecutive promotions to take their place in Division 1 this season. In addition to league success, they have also managed to pick up silverware in cup competitions in each of their three seasons.
Craig (3rd from the left on the back row) is now in his second season at the helm, having narrowly missed out on a treble in his first full season, when they were defeated in the League Cup Final. They made up for this disappointment however by adding the Worcestershire FA Sunday Minor Cup to their league success, edging a closely fought encounter after an inspired substitution lead to a hatrick being scored.
The team have been sponsored by A1 Trade Print Services for the current campaign, and despite stepping up to the top division, they have so far made their best ever start to a season with nine consecutive league and cup victories. If he carries on at this rate, there might be a chair waiting for him at Lancaster Gate.
